The Lost Paradise

Wouldn’t it be nice if the Bible only contained the first two chapters?  In these chapters God created the world and everything in it.  In the second chapter he created the first man and woman and they lived in a beautiful paradise.    As you read further, you will realize that this would not last.  In chapter three we are introduced to sin, which means the Age of Innocence is over.

While some people do not believe in Satan, trust me he is real.  He is is a dangerous enemy.  He was there marring this perfect paradise.

He was there when Jesus was killed on the cross.

He will be there at the end of times when he convices his followers to join him in Armageddon and also during the final battle.

Take a look at 2 Corinthians 11:3:  Here he is described as a serpeant.  When you read the third chapter in the Bible, you are going to see how a snake plays a major role in the future of mankind.

Satan is the opposite of what Jesus is.  Satan is a murderer, and the father of all lies.  He has been around since the beginning telling lies.  Jesus on the other hand is truth, is perfect and is a Savior.  Satan is unfaithful.  If you fall for one of his lies do not hold your breath while waiting for him to come true with your promises.  You will be holding your breath for a very long time.  However, Jesus is faithful.  While his promises will not come true right away, they will eventually be fulfilled.  Satan’s works are evil while Jesus’ works are righteous.

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (KJV).

It is very important to study the thirdbook of Genesis because that way you will know the ways that Satan used to trick Eve.  Do not think of this book as a story because Satan is right now influencing our daily lives.  As you read that third chapter, you will be able to recognize ways that Satan is using to attack you during you spiritual walk.

Ephesians 6:10-12

10.  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11.  Put on the whole armour of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 4:27  “Neither give place to the devil” (KJV).

This is God’s Wolrd, Not Mine

As Christians we have to set an example by living a life as Jesus did and would.  If we complain, gossip, spread rumors what is that saying about us?  It is saying that we are not setting a good example about Jesus and Christianity.  People who are non-believers would run in the other direction.  On the other hand, if we what we day and do and how we act reflect a Christ-like attitude, we may be able to win people over to be Christ-like as well.

Not only do we have to live this way for people, we have to treat God's creation in the same way.  After all, this is Our Father's world.  It is his creation and we must treat it as it is his and not ours.  For example, the next time you are looking at your flowers in your garden, God created this world to be perfect in beauty.  You might see a flower that is wilting, the one in the Garden of Eden never wilted.  Then when sin entered the world, this beauty disappeared.  Today, while you might see some of God's original creation, such as the stars at night, many of it you cannot see because of litter, pollution and other things that mar the beauty.

Set a mission to restore the beauty to this world.  The next time you are walking and you see a piece a litter where some thoughtless person threw from his car while driving by, pick it up.  You can also help beautify the world by planting flowers in a bare patch of lawn.  While what you do might not take care of all the problems in the world, a little bit goes a long way.

As I am typing this, I am looking around my room.  I do not like what I see.  I see tables cluttered with papers and books; I see a sink full of dirty dishes; I see dusty shelves; I am pretty sure there are clothes in the drier that need to be folded and put away.  I realize that the house I am living in is part of My Father's world.  So I am going to treat it like that.  I am going to get organized and start keeping up with the housecleaning, putting things away, taking things to the Salvation Army.  I also see potential for the house such as making curtains for the living room and going more painting jobs around the house.

Look up at the stars on a clear. cloudless night away from the lights of the city.  See all the constellations and see if you can name them all.  Many atheists claim that the stars were there there the "Big Bang" happened.  If this actually  happened, the universe would be scattered with many stars closer to the earth where life couldn't possibly exist.  To prove this point take a deck of cards and throw them on the floor.  They will be scattered all over the floor with no order to them at all.  If the "Big Band" actually happened there would be no order to the stars and planet in this galaxy and even the entire universe.  Just the stars alone should be enough to reveal God's creation, existence, wisdom and power.  It is the same if you put a bunch of monkeys in a room of computers.  Even if you can keep them still enough to type on the Word program.  All they will type are gibberish.  The odds of the actually writing a story are slim to none.

Romans 8:21 "Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God" (KJV).

God gave Adam and Eve dominion over his creation   They were obligated to value his gifts and to use them for his glory.  He created this world and every thing in it as as Revelation 4:11 states.  Everything HE created for himself, he also created for us as well so wecan enjoy and use them as the following verses state:

1 Timothy 6:17 “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy” (KJV).

Acts 17:24-28
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

The First Marriage

Genesis 2:18  "And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him" (KJV).

It was not good, when God saw that Adam was without a mate.  He was alone.  Well, in a way that could have been good.  Without another human, he had God all to himself.  He had his fellowship with his creator, the beauty of the garden that he could look at day in and day out, all the delicious fruit he could eat, all the animals that he could call pets, and so much more.  Why would he need another human in this paradise?  Imagine if you are in a similar scenario where you find the most beautiful paradise on earth.  Maybe you might want to keep it all to yourself if you are selfish.  However, in most cases, you want to share it with people you know.  That is the same with a new Christian.  They discover the beauty of a loving and forgiving God.  They want to share this with their loved ones and even strangers.  God created Eve as a helper since the animals, while they were mostly used in tilling the earth, were not suitable helpers as Genesis 2:18 states:

"And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him" (KJV).

He created Eve, the first woman and gave her to Adam as a gift Genesis 3:12 states:

"And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat" (KJV).

Not only did Adam have a helper, companion and wife, he had a fellow human who he could share God's creation with.  Adam did not realize that he needed Eve,  God knew this even before he made her.  He knew that the animals would not take care of his needs.  He may have even wondered why he did not have a mate when he noticed that the animals each had one,

Woman are not to be looked down as unequal to man because when he created her, he also created her in His image.  There is only one thing different from her creation.  Where Adam was created from dust, Eve was created from Adam’s rib.

Genesis 2:23 "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man" (KJV).

With God's creation of this world and of man, we see many firsts,  The garden of Eden was the first home for plant life, birds, fish, reptiles, insects, animals and man.  Adam was the first worker.  While God provided the mist to water the plants, his purpose of creating Adam was so the human could till the earth and grown and harvest food.  While God could have done all this, he created man so he would e useful in God's creation, using the gifts that God gave him.  God created Adam not so he would be a servant to the lord but created him so man and God could work together.  Now, as Christians, how should we view work?  Is it a pain in the neck to get up each morning?  Do you wish you did not have to work?  Wouldn't it be awesome to have the entire week so you can dedicate time to the Lord and his personal assignments that he gives you?

A majority has to work to bring home the paycheck and pay bills.  However, we should view work in a positive way.  Take a look at the following verses:

James 2:26 "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" (KJV).

1 Corinthian 3:9 "For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building"

When we get a job we develop skills, abilities and talents which we can use to cooperate with God and be faithful to him.  Even if you did not have to work, it takes work to learn how to be like Jesus.  We are each different from one another and we must learn what God want us to do during our daily walk with him.  You want to be able to say as John said in John 17.

Genesis 2:8 "And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed" (KJV).

Take a look at all the homes and apartments in your neighborhood, village, city or town.  They are filled with tenants and residents.  Many people call these places a home.  Adam had a home in the garden of Eden and he was the first human resident.  Think about the most beautiful garden you have ever seen or visited.  Adam's garden was a tropical garden created by God's hand.  There are no words to describe the beauty of this place.  It was created for humans to enjoy and also to have plentiful food.

Genesis 2:16-17

16 "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat" (KJV):

17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (KJV).

God created Adam so he could enjoy life in the tropical paradise.  However, he also gave him responsibilities as well.  All of God's commands are good and when people obey them, they will be bless with good things.  Also when men obey God, it will keep them in fellowship with him and gain his approval.

Psalms 33:11  "The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generation" (KJV)

Psalm 119:39  "Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good" (KJV).

Proverbs 6:20-23

20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life (KJV).

1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous" (KJV).

Imagine Adam’s surprise when he opened his eyes and saw Eve.  He burst into praise as said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” (Genesis 2:23, KJV).  He called her woman since she was formed out of man.  She was made both from his and for him.  He needed her since she would also need him.  They were created so they would belong together and serve each other.  In marriage they would be one flesh.  This gift to Adam was a loving gift from God.

Ephesians 5:30-31
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

There was no sin or evil in the Gardenof Eden,  Therefore, Adam and Eve were like little children who are innocent.  God had planted two trees in the Garden of Eden, the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  After sinning by eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which God commanded them not to, they lost their innocence and eventually died.  Why would God test these two humans like that?  God gave them the freedom of choice and did not want them to live like robots.  He wanted them to obey and love him willingly and freely.

Romans 7:1-3

1.  Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

1 Corinthians 7:8-9

8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.
9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

1 Timothy 5:14 “ I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully” (KJV)

How Animals and Humans are Different From Each Other

Even though animals and humans are warm-blooded and even though they were created both by God, they are different from each others.  Even though some animals are intelligent and have their own ways of communicating, they were not created as the image of God as humans were created.

Unlike animals, we can have a special relationship with God.  He gave us the ability to talk and to think for ourselves, to have emotion and to make decisions.  He provided us with a spiritual nature so that we can know and worship him.

Another reason why we are different fromanimals is that God created humans so they can have dominover over the earth as the followingg verse state:

Genesis 1:28 "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth" (KJV).

1 Corinthians 15:45  "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit" (KJV).

Psalms 8:6-8
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

What is the Trinity?

You might ask yourself, “When God talks during the creation and the Fall of Man, he is talking to others.  Aren’t they other gods he is talking about?”  That is where you need to get an understanding of the Trinity, especially if you are a new Christian.
The word Trinity does not show up anywhere in the Bible.  However, many believers use this term to describe three Gods in one, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Actually, the Trinity is God existing as three unique individuals.  They are different from each other.  For example the Father is not the same as the Son.  And the Son is not the same as the Holy Spirit. They are unique from each other but identical as well, since each is divine, is love and has a will. Each is self-existent and unchangeable.
Some people may say that God is one individual who revealed himself in different forms throughout Biblical history.  For example, to some such as Abraham he revealed himself as the Father and to others such as the disciples he revealed himself as the Son.  However, the Father revealed himself to the son as Matthew 3:16-17 states, "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (KJV).  All three were present at the same time” KJV).
Other ways to explain the Trinity to a new Christian is to direct him to various Bible verses in the New Testament.

Matthew 28:18
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (KJV).

God states that Jesus is his son.  Jesus is all-powerful since he has the same miraculous powers that God has.  God is everywhere and Jesus is also omnipresent.  Jesus acknowledged that he had unlimited powers.  Since the creator-the Father-has these powers and is everywhere and omnipresence, this shows that Jesus is like God.

John 3:34-35 "For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand"(KJV).

John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you" (KJV).

The above two verses show that the Father, Son, and Spirit are equal in their divine attributes. However, each plays a different role to mankind and therefore, each relates to man in a different way.  The Trinity is made up three individuals who make up one God who function in different and perfect ways.

Acts 2:32-33"This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear" (KJV)

Acts 2:38-39-"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" (KJV).

Acts 10:36-38-"The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)   That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him" (KJV).

When Jesus returned back to Heaven, something had to be left for humans so they would continue to believe.  The Holy Spirit, which was first received by the Son, was promised by the Father.  The Holy Spirit is a mediator-first used by Father and Son, now between men and the Father.  It is the Holy Spirit who calls us to repent and be baptized, to confess that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and to receive God’s eternal gift of salvation.  It is the Holy Spirit who calls on us to spread the gospel to other throughout the world, calling sinners to salvation.

2 Corinthians 13:14-The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen" (KJV).

Is the doctrine of the Trinity revealed in the Old Testament?  No, because the Old Testament mostly emphasizes that the God of Israel is one God who is unique and uncreated, the only true God.  The Israelites were easily tempted by their non-believing neighbors and were easily led to worship false Gods.  This was a big sin in God's eyes and therefore it needed to be stressed that he was the only God.  However, we do see glimpses in the Old Testament of the Trinity.  For example, many Bible verses say "Let Us," as if God is in conference with others.  There are many other verses that show "an angel of the Lord" appearing, for example, to Abraham, that indicate the God is not alone with his dealings with mankind.
It is important to see the Trinity as a loving community.  All three are involved in God's overall plan for salvation.  As Ephesians 1:4 states, "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love" (KJV), God had already chosen his people before he created this world.  Before he created the world, God had already appointed his son Jesus Christ to be the sacrifice so that we humans could have eternal life.

Isaiah 48:16 Come near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his spirit, hath sent me (KJV).

This is a prophecy of Jesus Christ coming to earth to be our Savior.  God is asking who he should send to the earth.  Then he answers the question himself by saying that he would go.  These verses come from the Old Testament and mention God as being made up of more than one individual.  The trinity concept is also supported in the New Testament.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (KJV).

Even Jesus, in his own words, according to John 15:26, states “But when the comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father even the Spirit of truth, which proceeded from the father, he shall testify of me” (KJV).

Deuteronomy 6:4   “Hear O Israel:  The Lord our God is one God” (KJV).

Is There More Than One God?

Genesis 35: 2, 4

2.  Then Jacob said unto his household and to all that were with him, put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:

4.  And he gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hands, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem (KJV).

Ever since man started to inhabit the earth, the people worshiped gods.  While the original occupants of the world-Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel and Seth worshiped the True Lord God, as the generations grew, individuals branched off to their own gods.  While we are to worship only the God who created this world and the universe, is he the only God or are there others?
Throughout Biblical history, many people living during those times worshiped other gods and goddesses.  However, since the beginning of this world, the God who created this world is the only true God and has no other gods to compete with.  So what were these gods that other people worship?  They were things such as stone statues, rocks, golden calves and so on.  And what did these things do?       Absolutely nothing!  Take any item you use around the house.  For example, you have a phone which has become an idol.   Do you treat it like a god?  Do you worship it and pray to it?  What does it do, besides presenting you with a cool app?  Do it answer your prayers?  Does it lead you through life?  While you might think so, especially with “Google Me Now”, all this phone is good for is wasting your time and life and having to charge it when its battery runs down.  You might as well say that your phone depends on you to keep it running.   Whatever the idol whether it is your phone, a book series, a television show and so on, if it takes you away from God, it is a god that you are replacing with the One and True God.

Exodus 20:3-"Thou shalt have no other gods before me" KJV).

Deuteronomy 6:4-"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord" (KJV).

1 Kings 8:60-"That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else" (KJV).

The God is Lord and the one true God.  Even though he is not competing with other gods, he still is a jealous God and does not want us to worship these other lesser gods.  When we fall into the trap of following other false gods, we will be walking away from the life that the true God wants us to lead.  By following other gods, we may lead a life of evil wickedness.  For example, later on in the Bible examples are shown of what happens when an individual does this.  One such example is described when fathers sacrificed their own children.  These individuals were misled and did evil in the eyes of God.  Even today people are doing just that.  It does not have to be a god that they are worshipping in general speaking.  However, when individuals are addicted to television shows such as The Walking Dead and Orange is the New Black, they are focusing on those shows and not focusing on what is important-having a spiritual walk with God.
